How long have you been working in Family Day Care?

I was a Family Day Educator for 3&1/2 years before starting My Home Your Home Family Day Care in September 2016.

Why do you like working in Family Day Care?

I love the small groups. During my time as an educator, the smaller groups gave me the opportunity to develop a much stronger bond with the children in my care and their families than I may have if it were a larger group.

I was able to focus on each child as an individual where I was able to learn more about their likes/dislikes and gain an understanding of each child's development.

What is your favourite pastime? I think I would have to say window shopping. I find wandering the shops relaxing.

What is your favourite food? Chocolate.

What is your favourite movie? Chitty Chitty Bang Bang followed closely by The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast - still a big kid at heart.

Cities, countries you have visited. Japan - Tokyo, Osaka. Australia - Melbourne, The Great Ocean Road, Brisbane, Townsville. England, Scotland and Wales. France - Paris.

All Time Favourite Activity to do with the day care children? Sensory activities, shaving cream, finger painting, goop, play dough. I also love reading stories to the children. My book collection has been growing ever since I started in childcare 11 years ago! 

I would now like to take this time to let you know that I will be on maternity leave for a while to take care of my new baby boy William John Pashley. He was born on the 27th of March. This is my first child so it's time to put all my childcare knowledge to the test. :) Whilst I won't be doing educator visits for a while I will from time to time be available in the office to answer phone calls and emails. 

Leonie will be supporting all of my educators during this time and conducting the fortnightly visits to your child's educator, you may have seen her profile a couple of newsletters back. Leonie accepted the coordinator's position and we welcome her to the team.
